Some Advice for Watch Owners

How to Wind Your Watch:

The first step is to unscrew the crown counter clockwise and the stem will spring out by itself. Rotate the crown clockwise about 30 times to offer the watch a primary pre charge. The watch owners who do not wear their watches every day will have to charge their watches as they will de-wind as they sit. If a watch is being worn regularly, the kinetic movement retains the watches power and keeps the time and charge. There will be no need for replacing a battery with a fully mechanical watch. It is really helpful if your watch is serviced once a year.

How to Set the Date and Time:

Unscrew the crown to set it free. Pull the crown out one detent and rotate the crown counter clockwise to view the days while scrolling. If today is the 16th you, set the date to the 15th. Then carefully pull the crown out to the next detent. Rotate the hands counter clockwise until the date changes to the 16th. Now you are sure that it is set to the 16th AM. If you have to set the time to 6:00 P.M rotate the hands one more revolution and then to 6:00 PM. For chronograph date indicator press the side button to reach the same results.

How to Size a Watch:

For metal bands it is better to take the watch to a watch repair shop. They will size the watch for you for about $5.00. Leather band watches are sized in different ways that depend on the security clasp.

Taking Care of a New Watch:

Any good quality watch may get damaged by water. It is advisable not to submerge a watch or wear it while taking a shower even if a watch has been produced with proper O-rings and gaskets. Water may still penetrate into the casing, usually, because of the crowns not completely fixed. Proper servicing is required for all automatic watches. A professional tune up will ensure a long lasting watch. The owners of quartz battery powered watches usually have to substitute a battery every two to three years.
